Desford Allotment Garden Association (DAGA) was formed in 2009 to deliver a number of benefits to its membership, these include;

  • Automatic membership of the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Society (NSALG) and access to their free quarterly gardening magazine.  Alternatively subscribe personally for just £6 per year and get your own copy delivered to your home.  Visit the website to download an application form; www.nsalg.org.uk

  • Access to the discounted Kings Seed and sundries purchase scheme, a saving of 40% per packet of seeds on average.

  • Discounted Mr. Fothergill’s and Johnson’s seeds at 50% discount off their respective recommended retail prices, excludes postage and packaging.

  • DAGA can possibly get discounts from other well known seed and garden suppliers e.g. T&M, Suttons, DT Brown, Dobbies and Marshalls, if you require something specific from them.  However, any orders tend to be subject to a minimum order value and do not include postage and packaging.  Please ask a DAGA committee member if you have a specific requirement from any of these named brands before making a purchase.

  • Discounts and savings on horticultural products bought online through branded suppliers.  By using the NSALG online e-booklet of discount codes which is available on the NSALG member’s area of the website.  The login and password is available to all full paid members of DAGA.

  • Public Liability Insurance Possession of Public Liability insurance is a mandatory requirement for all plot holders and DAGA membership is the easiest and least expensive option for acquiring this insurance.

  • Social activities and competitions throughout the year including the annual summer BBQ.  Please let us know what you would like to do and we’ll help to arrange these and make them successful. What can we make into regular features of the annual DAGA allotment calendar?

  • More DAGA members help to achieve a closer working partnership with the Desford Parish Council (landowners of the allotments) with the ultimate aim to provide more improvements on the allotment site.

  • Importantly though, a great wealth and experience of growing and gardening can be achieved by talking to other DAGA members.  Sharing ideas and sometimes failures will help your gardening and allotment take off and be a very productive and rewarding pastime.  It may even make you feel fitter and healthier; save you some money when compared to supermarket prices and don’t forget everything you grow will taste so much nicer and be fresh.
